支管与主管连接时，应选择主管上热伸长位移小的地方（如靠近固定点），支管应从主管顶部或侧面引出。支管靠近主管的直管段不宜过长，或在靠近主管的直管段设置固定点，以防支管和主管的膨胀受到较大推力。

为便于管道排水，应在垂直管道上安装流量测量装置（如测量孔板）。

蒸汽管道应适当设置泄放点，管道的死端也应设置泄放点。疏水管一般应设疏水阀，疏水阀的型式应根据工艺系统专业提供的条件选择。

When installing the square expansion device in horizontal position on the pipe, the pipes on both sides of the expansion device shall be kept horizontal, and the inclination and gradient of the connecting pipe section of the two sides of the pipe shall be consistent with that of the pipe.

When connecting the branch pipe from the main pipe, the place with small thermal elongation displacement on the main pipe (such as near the fixed point) should be selected, and the branch pipe should be led out from the top or side of the main pipe. The straight pipe section of the branch pipe close to the main pipe should not be too long, or the fixed point should be set at the straight pipe section close to the main pipe, so as to prevent the expansion of the branch pipe and the main pipe from receiving a large thrust.

In order to facilitate the drainage of the pipeline, the flow measuring device (such as measuring orifice) should be installed on the vertical pipeline.

The steam pipe should be equipped with drain points properly, and the dead end of the pipe should also be equipped with drain points. Generally, the drain pipe should be equipped with a steam trap, and the type of the steam trap should be selected according to the conditions provided by the process system specialty.

从总管接出支管时，应选择在总管上热伸长的位移量小的地方（如固定点附近），且支管应从总管的上面或侧面引出，靠近总管的支管直管段不要太长，或者在此直管段靠近总管处设置固定点，以防止支管膨胀而使主管受到很大的推力。
