Genius English 7 - Unit 2 – What I Want to Be
Class 7 (30 Minutes Demo Class)
Warm Up
Welcome the students to the class and write name-tags for each person.
欢迎孩子们来到课堂并且为每一个孩子写上名字卡。
Separate the students into 2-3 teams and teach them the team chant. For example, “We are the rockets. Go rockets!”
把孩子们分成2-3组,然后和孩子们一起为每一个队设置一个口号,比如:我们是火箭队!冲啊,火箭队!
Class rules: (speak English, raise your hand, be clean, no shouting and be kind to others). This shows that you are a strict teacher. Parents will like this.
班级规则:(讲英文、举手发言、保持清洁、不能大声喊叫以及对待同学要友善。)这些能显示你是一个严厉的老师。家长们会喜欢。
Teach the students the song and accompanying dance: First have the students listen to the song, then show them the dance moves that match the lyrics. Finally do the performance with the children.
教小朋友们歌曲以及配套舞蹈。首先让孩子们听歌曲,然后展示与歌词相对应的舞蹈。最后和小朋友们一起展示给家长。
Title Page
Ask the questions relating to the title page. Questions can be found in the “Tips”. Progressively make the questions more difficult to gauge the student’s English level.
根据标题页主题问问题。问题可以在课件中的“Tips”中找到。逐步问一些难的问题来测试孩子们的水平。
Have the students come to the board and touch the sections that have animations. Have the student make a sentence relating to the content and have the class repeat. Remember to give points to the appropriate teams for participation.
让孩子们上前来触摸课件中的动画。根据内容造句,并且让其他孩子们一起跟读。记得给到参与的孩子们相对应的分数。
New Words
Introduce the new words to the students and see if any of them already know any of the new words.
把新单词介绍给学生看看是否里面有学生已经知道的单词。
Today’s new words: afraid, artist, career, dangerous, fire, firefighter, fisherman, hope, relaxing, scientist.
今天的新单词:afraid, artist, career, dangerous, fire, firefighter, fisherman, hope, relaxing, scientist.
On the new words page there are three options for teaching the new words. Picture/word, picture and word. Use each of these options to teach the new words to the students.
在新单词的页面,这里有三种选择去教授新单词:图和单词,图,单词。请分别用每一种选项来给学生呈现新单词。
For each of the pictures ask additional questions for bonus points. For example ‘why is he afraid?’ or ‘what is dangerous?’.
给每一个图片问一个额外的问题来赢取得分。例如:‘why is he afraid?’ 或‘what is dangerous?’.
Story Time
First play the audio in the courseware and have the students listen to the story.
首先播放课件里的音频,让学生听这个故事。
Then the teacher reads one sentence at a time and has the students repeat.
然后老师每次读一句让学生跟读。
Finally, have each team read a page from the story. Ask comprehension questions relating to the content to ensure the students understand.
最后让每个小组读一页故事,然后提问学生关于这个故事的问题保证学生理解明白。
For each page ask a bonus question for 2 points about the content or images on the page.
给每一页的内容或者图片问一个问题,可以得到2分。
Ask individual students to come out and choose the correct answer to the questions.
让每一个学生上来选择正确的答案。
Language Structure
To study language structure the teacher can play the matching pairs game.
老师可以玩配对游戏。
Create flashcards with two of each word. Each word is a profession eg, teacher, fisherman, artist, fire fighter, scientist, pilot.
每个单词准备2张闪卡。每个单词都是职业类:eacher, fisherman, artist, fire fighter, scientist, pilot.
Place the flashcards on a table and ask the students one by one to choose two cards trying to find a matching pair.
把这些闪卡放在桌子上让学生一个一个上来找配对。
Once a student has found a matching pair the other students can ask the student, ‘what do you want to be?’. The student replies with the found word. ‘I want to be a…..’
每当一个学生找到了一对,就可以问下面的学生‘what do you want to be?’。学生们需要用自己找到的卡片来回答。
The teacher can then ask ‘do you really want to be a.….’. If they say no the teacher can ask ‘what do you really want to be’?
老师可以问‘do you really want to be a.….’。如果答案是否定的,老师可以再问‘what do you really want to be’?
Game
Magician’s assistant- this is a great game used to review words used in today’s class.
魔法助理-这是一个很棒的复习今天所学单词的游戏。
Final Review
At the end of the demo class, have the students do a final review of the new words. Get the students to produce each of the words on their own. This shows the parents that within 30 minutes. the teacher is able to get the students to retain some of the class content.
在Demo课的最后,对今天学习的新单词做总复习。让学生自己可以说出每一个词。这个部分是让家长能够看到老师在30分钟内就能让孩子们掌握课堂内容。
Say goodbye to all the students and give them each a high five. Give each of the students a small gift to take away with them.
和每一个孩子说再见并且击掌。送每一个孩子一个可以带走的小礼物。
Demo Tips
Proper preparation prevents poor performance - know your content.
课前充分的准备避免失败课堂。
Have the CC ask the prospective student’s parents questions about the personality and hobbies of the student.
CC在课前可以询问家长一些关于孩子们个性和习惯的问题。
Ensure the demo class is fun and that the children enjoy it. This is very important.
确保Demo课堂很有趣并且孩子们都喜欢。这很重要。
Ensure the children are able to learn something in your demo class because the parents are more focused on the results of the class.

Give each student equal opportunities to speak. Make sure and involve students who are not actively participating.
