Neon Esports will be the second Southeast Asian representative at the upcoming ONE Esports Singapore Major.

The Philippines-based organization shocked the DPC SEA upper division by dominating their matches in the first four weeks of online competition with a 5-0 record.

Neon Esports’ incredible run includes wins over BOOM Esports, 496 Gaming, TNC Predator, Execration, and Vice Esports. Neon’s momentum was halted, however, by the region’s top team, Fnatic, during the fifth week of competition.

Neon Esports secured its spot for the Singapore Major after TNC Predator lost their match to Fnatic in the final week of the upper division. Fnatic’s win dropped TNC Predator to 4-3, giving Neon Esports enough wins to advance to the Major.

Neon Esports will now face T1 in the final match of the DPC SEA upper division. If Neon wins, they will force a three-way tiebreaker match between TNC Predator, T1, and BOOM Esports. However, if Neon loses, the three representatives from the SEA region for the ONE Esports Singapore Major will be Fnatic, Neon Esports, and T1.

Prior to the start of the DPC season, Neon made some important roster changes towards the end of last year. Neon picked up former Adroit Esports carry player John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas, along with releasing the team’s offlaner Julius “JG” Galeon.

Neon finalized its roster when the team’s carry player and captain, Rolen Andrei “skem” Ong made the switch to the position 4 support role. Prieme Ejay “PlayHard” Maque subsequently took over the offlane roster spot for the team.

Neon had already shown flashes of brilliance during online events before the start of the DPC. The team is well-known for having unorthodox hero drafts, like a hard carry Chen or a position 5 support Troll Warlord. Neon’s key to success is that they always find ways to make these strategies work.

Neon Esports joins Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, Alliance, Team Nigma, and Fnatic as the organizations to qualify for the ONE Esports Singapore Major, which is set to take place from March 27 to April 4.
