SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed the detection of 20 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore on Sunday (11 April), taking the country's total case count to 60,653.
There is one new case of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, said the ministry in the news release. "Based on our investigations so far, the case resides in a dormitory and there are no new cases in the community," said MOH.
Additionally, there are also 19 new imported cases, all of whom have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) since their arrival in Singapore.
In its nightly update on Saturday, MOH said that the sole community case detected earlier that day was a 71-year-old female Indian national. The woman, a short-term visit pass holder and retiree, arrived in Singapore from India on 28 December last year and served her SHN at a dedicated facility until 10 January, during which time she tested negative for COVID-19.
She developed a fever on 5 April and was tested again when she sought medical treatment the next day. Her test result came back positive for COVID-19 on 8 April and she was then conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. A subsequent test on 9 April showed she was negative for COVID-19 infection.
Her serological test result has come back positive, which is indicative of a past infection. She could be shedding minute fragments of the virus RNA, which are no longer transmissible and infective to others, said MOH. Her case is currently considered unlinked.
